Dude will have to regroup

So Game On Dude did not win his third consecutive Gold Cup and will not be repeating his California handicap triple crown. In finishing a non-threatening fourth in the June 28 Cup, the seven-year old son of Awesome Again may have raised some questions about his game. Can he still get it on? After all, he has been around the track a few times now and is not getting any younger. I personally would not count this hero as fallen just yet. Things did not set up well for the Dude early on in the race and he needs things to go his way in the opening half mile or so. As age has crept in, it is harder for him to get his game on if facing adversity. Like any salty veteran with big wins under his saddle, Game On Dude can never be discounted when he steps hoof onto the track. As long as health permits, this hero will be back and probably gunning for a second consecutive Pacific Classic at Del Mar in late August.
