Mastery is an aptly named colt. Thus far his career has been…masterful. Four wins in as many starts told us this son of Candy Ride is a whole lot like his pappy. He is the proto-typical Bob Baffert horse and fit nicely in the hall of fame conditioner’s camp. Brilliantly fast and a real race horse, like his father before him, Mastery was unfortunately injured in the gallop out following another jaw-dropper in the San Felipe on March 11. Surgery was performed on Monday and he is now recovering nicely back at the Baffert barn. Candy Ride’s career was cut short by injury after 6 wins in 6 starts.
