El Kabeir is the early frontrunner in the 2015 Kentucky Derby points chase. An impressive win in the Jerome Stakes at Aqueduct on January 3 has this great grandson of 1990 Derby winner Unbridled in the fast lane towards the 141st Run for the Roses. Coming from just off the pace after stumbling at the start, El Kabeir covered the mile and 70 yards in 1:44.69 and won easily by nearly 5 lengths. The grade 3 Jerome marked the 3rd win in 6 career starts for this son of Scat Daddy. This John Terranova trained colt is now perched atop the Derby standings with 21 points. (photo by NYRA)
