Upstart placed himself high on the list of Kentucky Derby contenders with an impressive win in the Holy Bull Stakes at Gulfstream Park on January 24. Trained by Rick Violette, this great grandson of Seattle Slew took the lead on the far turn and cruised home well in front in the mile and a sixteenth race. This victory marked the third win in five career start with one second place finish and one third for the New York bred colt.
