The chase for the Breeders’ Cup is now in full swing. With “win and you’re in” qualifying races in each division dotting the calendar, those ponies looking to prance at Santa Anita come November 1 are mapping out a flight path. Of course the increased activity makes for plenty of excitement, but it also means selecting the top ten Thoroughbreds in the national poll has gotten a bit tougher. Without further ado, let’s take a look at this week’s best and get a thought on each. For a complete national poll visit
Wise Dan- Two wins in two starts this year and almost ready for start number 3
Palace Malice-Some think he is the best and Aug. 2 Whitney a chance to prove it
California Chrome-Can’t ignore 5 straight wins and the ease in which he did it
Close Hatches-Top female in handicap division and proven against the best
Shared Belief-Unbeaten 3 year old has made it look easy so far
Bayern-Dominant Haskell win means he might be better than anyone thought
